Not good. I'm gutted.

I'll really miss Gerry, but those on the FB group saying TFC are dead without him and that the band would be better splitting up completely are WAY off the mark. Norman and Raymond are fine songwriters and are more than capable of bringing us more wonderful albums in future. The music may well be different, but it will still be brilliant.

Sad news, but it still leaves at least two outstanding songwriters, and the three of them have had a real good run together.

I see it as a positive that TFC will continue, as we're never quite sure if an album will be the last.

Paul Quinn is returning for the 3-night shows this year - he's a great songwriter too. High Five in particular is a great album. I wonder... ;)

Gutted too. Reeling from the news to be honest. They wouldn't be the same band without any of them but I respect the decision to continue without Gerard. Hopefully we'll get some new solo material from Gerard too.

Sad news.

Obviously I know none of these people but Gerry does not seem like the kind of person you would have an unresolvable difference of opinion with. Which makes it more sad.

Best of luck to Gerry for the future (more Lightships?) and to TFC.

See you in November for the last chapter in this installment.

Beyond stunned, so surprised to google TFC on an impulse today and to find this shocking news.

Fellas, can everyone hold hands and come up with a different scenario, please? Much appreciated in advance...

Though the word is a bit loaded given the situation, I'm sending love to the band and to all the fans.

(And, er, needless to say - if anyone has an extra ticket to any October Glasgow or November London shows, drop me a line!)

Just stumbled upon this in Pitchfork in my daily goofing off at work. Stunned. :(

So glad I got to see them last year on one of their rare trips thru my part of the world.

It's a very sad day, but filled with love for Teenage Fanclub. It's not until I write here on the message board that I feel the tears fill my eyes. All the best to Gerry, Norman and Raymond! I'm looking forward to hear whatever music you'll make in the future, to come see you play, and to say hi next time we meet!

Just seen the news and felt compelled to come here. I'm taken aback by how sad I am. Nobody's died but it feels upsetting to hear.

At this very moment I think I'd prefer them to call it a day. Maybe that will change. Key members of other bands leave but TFC are Norman, Ray and Gerry.

I was at Green Man at the weekend and they were on great form. I would never have guessed this was all going on behind the scenes.

I'm feeling pretty heartbroken by this, it just doesn't feel right at the moment. Who will sing Gerry's songs live at future gigs or will they be left out altogether?

I have four more TFC gigs this year, this news makes them even more special now.
